DCFS has launched a new customer service number. You may call 877-7LADCFS (877-752-3237) for child support services, child welfare assistance, and other DCFS inquiries. Hours of operation for the line are 7:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. The Child Abuse & Neglect Hotline remains unchanged and continues to operate 24/7 at: 855-4LA-KIDS (855-452-5437).

The USDA- FNS is ending the LaCAP program due to low enrollment. If currently receiving LaCAP, you will remain eligible for the program through the end of your current certification period. At the end of your certification period, you must be recertified under regular SNAP eligibility rules. This means you may have to provide additional information and verification, such as proof of income, resources, shelter expenses, and other household information.

The following programs are currently available through LA CAFÉ:
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (formerly Food Stamps)Provides monthly benefits that help low-income households buy the food they need for good health
Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP)Provides temporary cash assistance to eligible low-income families who need assistance for children
Kinship Care Subsidy Program (KCSP)Provides cash assistance for eligible children who reside with qualified relatives other than parents
Child Support Enforcement ServicesProvides parent locator and paternity establishment services, as well as assistance to establish and enforce child and/or medical support orders and collection and distribution of child support payments
The Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) provides assistance to families to help pay for the child care needed in order to work, or attend school or training and is now provided by the Louisiana Department of Education.

Fraud includes concealing or not reporting information in order to receive ineligible public assistance benefits (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program, Kinship Care Subsidy Program and Child Care Assistance Program) and Electronic Benefit Transfer benefits.
